The Solar Retractable Reel System is designed for larger residential and commercial pools where energy efficiency and deck flexibility are priorities.
Unlike traditional automatic covers that require tracks along the full length of the pool, this system eliminates the need for perimeter tracks that can interfere with radius corners, stairs, or ladders. The mechanism is housed within a movable bench structure that can travel away from the pool edge when required, up to approximately eight feet.
The cover actuation uses Aquamatic’s hydraulic drive technology, while operational power is solar-activated. This removes the need for electrical components poolside and eliminates the need to cut decks for hose or conduit runs.
Operation is controlled by a key switch. One person can open or close the cover without handling manual reels or large blanket systems.
The hydraulic mechanism is supported by a limited twenty-year warranty, and the slat system carries a limited five-year warranty, as provided by Aquamatic Cover Systems.
For projects where track layout is a constraint or where solar-powered operation is preferred, the Solar Retractable Reel System provides an alternative configuration within the Aquamatic product line.

I’ve been installing automatic pool covers for over 10 years, working on everything from straightforward builds to complex vanishing edge and perimeter overflow projects. I have hands-on experience with hidden track systems, concealed vault lids, hidden leading edge installations, and specialty finishes like stone and tile lids with stainless steel trays.
