The Hydramatic is Aquamatic’s hydraulic automatic pool cover system. Unlike electric motor systems mounted at the reel, the Hydramatic uses a closed-loop hydraulic drive. The motors that move the cover are hydraulic, and the electrical components remain remote at the equipment pad.
This design removes electric motors and switching components from the cover vault, which can be beneficial in wet environments or projects where long-term durability is a priority.
The system uses a dual hydraulic drive. One motor opens the cover and one motor closes it. Direction is controlled by a key switch that actuates a hydraulic valve. The drive system does not rely on a traditional clutch and does not require lubrication. Built-in pressure relief valves eliminate the need for electrical limit sensors near the pool.

I’ve been installing automatic pool covers for over 10 years, working on everything from straightforward builds to complex vanishing edge and perimeter overflow projects. I have hands-on experience with hidden track systems, concealed vault lids, hidden leading edge installations, and specialty finishes like stone and tile lids with stainless steel trays.
